Era 2 Description After JB quit in March of 1967, we went on as a 4 piece for the rest of era 2. We were all in high school still but on weekends and in the summer we worked very steady. Doug remembers that in summer of 1968 we played 81 out of 102 nights from May 24th through September 7th. Needless to say, it gave us, as kids really, time to be on our own. We all grew up away from home on weekends and summers as we began to experiment with many things. It was during this era that we recorded our only record, "The Yellow Canary" at the Lynn Recording Studios in Rochester, MN. It was a song written by the entire band. We had 500 copies pressed and I think that 400 of them are still in somebody's garage somewhere. We were stars. I wish I could tell you how many places we played during that era, but I'm sure any of you familiar with the band would have seen us at many of them. I certainly remember the Cobblestone, The Starline Ballroom in Carrol IA, The Hollyhock, The Val Halla, Fox Lake, The Playmore, The Star, the Lakewood in Lakeview, the Greene County Roller Rink, Anthon Ia, and of course the Roof Garden. (And, on and on and on...) This era lasted until September of 1968 when Joey, Bucky, and Doug when off to college. But the band was not yet dead.
