This was the first band I was ever in. Ray Guntren and I were in high school together. He was a senior and I was a freshman. So it was 1965. One day while I was in what sorta passed for a music room in our school, I started playing the chords to the Venture's song, "Walk, Don't Run" on the piano and out of the blue this other student started playing the melody on her saxophone!

She was Jean Guntren (and from what Ray has told me, she doesn't remember this) and I asked her, "Wow, Where did you learn that"? Her brother was indeed, Ray Guntren. So we met and ended up starting this band along with Rick Koch on bass and Rick Lewis on drums. (Hank was added later) Our first gig was on Halloween, 1965 at the Armory in Storm Lake, IA.
