Spirits of '76 was born in Minneapolis,
Minnesota; the brain-child of Ron Clifford. We played all over
Minnesota during 1975. (I don't think we made it into 1976) The band
was mainly top-40 but had great players and vocalists.
After starting the band and rehearsing, we had a hard time finding
gigs. We then when with Boyd Hunt Enterprises which was a booking
agency where we were basically treated like dogs in for training
classes. We had to rehearse 3 times a day at 8 hour intervals. This
meant that if our first rehearsal was at noon, the next rehearsal
started at 8pm and the rehearsal after that started at 4am. You
rehearsed until you were basically burned out and then tried to get
some sleep before the next rehearsal. Needless to say, we were well
rehearsed by the time we hit the road!
